Here are five tips to help you beat the heat and stay safe:

Stay hydrated

Drink plenty of fluids, even if you're not thirsty. Water is best, but  you can also drink other fluids such as juice, sports drinks, or milk.

5

Avoid strenuous activity

If you must exercise, do it in the morning or evening when it's cooler. Take breaks often and drink plenty of fluids

4

Stay in an air-conditioned environment

If you don't have air conditioning, go to a public place that does. You can also take cool showers or baths.

3

Wear loose, light-colored clothing

This will help your body stay cool.

2

Check on the elderly and those with chronic health conditions

These individuals are more at risk for heat-related illness. Make sure they are staying hydrated and cool.
